eBay is known for its wide variety of listings, but one caught the attention of a woman who was shocked to see what appeared to be First Lady Melania Trump’s iconic wedding dress, the very gown she wore when she married Donald Trump.
The lavish Christian Dior dress, designed by John Galliano for Melania’s January 2005 wedding, was up for sale at $45,000, or best offer—significantly less than the reported $100,000 Melania originally paid for it.
Fashion writer Liana Satenstein alerted her “Neverworns” Substack subscribers on Tuesday, March 25, about the couture gown appearing for sale on eBay.
According to the seller, the dress had been worn only twice—once by Melania herself and once by the current owner, who claimed to have purchased it from the First Lady in 2010 for $70,000 to wear at her own wedding.

The extravagant gown, featuring over 500 hours of hand-sewn Swarovski crystal beading and a dramatic 13-foot train, has been listed on eBay since January but has not yet found a buyer.
One possible reason for the lack of interest is skepticism over the dress’s authenticity.
A source informed WWD that the listing does not feature Melania’s actual wedding dress, which is still kept at Mar-a-Lago.
The seller explained in the eBay listing that the dress had been altered significantly: “Because Melania Trump was a size 0-2, I had to have this dress made a little bigger as I was a size 4-6. I added a new satin layer to the bottom, extra embroidery pieces on the top, and a new layer of fabric and straps in the back to accommodate my larger chest.”
Melania famously wore the stunning gown, along with its matching 16-foot veil, for her Vogue cover in February 2005, just after her wedding in Palm Beach.
The dress was a luxurious creation, crafted from 300 feet of white duchesse satin with intricate crystal embroidery. The wedding itself was an extravagant affair, attended by celebrities such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Katie Couric, and Shaquille O’Neal.
Donald Trump proposed to Melania in April 2004, six years after they started dating, and the couple later welcomed their son, Barron Trump, in March 2006.
Now 19, Barron has recently attracted more public attention as his father resumes his second term in the White House. Standing at 6’7”, Barron certainly stands out, but he has continued to maintain a low profile, avoiding public speaking and largely keeping his life private, despite the growing scrutiny.
